Information
Water Services
We will need you to come in to start an account for your new home. Water will be turned on once deposit is paid. No checks for a deposit, please.
If you are leaving town for a few months, we can turn off your water so you are not billed and don’t have to worry about an unnoticed leak.
Please call and let me know when you will be moving so we can turn off your water, I will also need a forwarding address for you. At the end of that month I will take the last bill from your remaining deposit and mail you a refund.
You will come pay for however many gallons you need at City Hall then you will fill up the water at the Water Plant building. Please call ahead of time to be sure the water operator can assist you.
Taxes and Fees
Deposit: $250 (no checks) $25 is taken out for an Activation Fee
Reconnect Fee: $10.00
Disconnect Fee: $50.00
New Water or Sewer Tap On: $850.00
All active water customers are charged a minimum of 2,000 gallons each billing cycle
Property taxes will be mailed out each year by the month of September.
Property taxes need to be paid before December 31st of said year to avoid the 10% penalty.
After December 31st said tax will be considered delinquent, and a 10% penalty will be added as well as a 2% per month penalty until paid.
All delinquent taxes not paid by May 1st of the delinquent year thereafter will be subject to a lien placed on the property with additional fees/fines and/or sale of said property tax bill.
Payment arrangements can be made if the City Clerk is contacted and the payments are scheduled prior to May 31st of delinquent year.
Payments
Bills are sent out around the 1st of each month
Water meters are read the 15th of each month
Payments are due by the 15th of each month with no penalty
A 10% penalty will be added to bill paid the 16th-25th
If payment arrangements are not made by the 25th, water will be shut off on the 26th
(Dates are subject the change to a later date if one falls on a weekend.)
